The PACIFIC RIM countdown begins!

The countdown to Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming PACIFIC RIM film from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures is underway! I had the pleasure and honor of being part of Guillermo’s core concept team on the film, and it’s a huge thrill to see everything come to life as the first official trailer is released along with the theatre banners (where you can get a peek at one of the Kaiju I did concept for too!) THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE coming to Blu-Ray DVD!

Criterion is releasing Guillermo del Toro’s amazing and haunting, THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE to both DVD and Blu-Ray editions and I was thrilled to be asked to provide the cover artwork along with the disc art and spot illos for the booklet!  Filled with tons of tons of extras, deleted scenes and featurettes (and a fitting spine #666), both versions will be available on June 30th! THE MARQUIS: INFERNO back in print!

The third printing of THE MARQUIS: INFERNO from Dark Horse Comics is now back in print and available through your local comic shop or Amazon! This collected edition reprints the Danse Macabre storyline along with the Hell’s Courtesan and A Sin of One short stories! Includes an extensive 56 page sketchbook section and a full-color cover gallery featuring work by Matt Wagner, Mike Mignola, Charles Vess, Teddy Kristiansen, Kelley Jones, and Michael Gaydos!

The Mill at Calder’s End KICKSTARTER!!

The incredible Kevin McTurk has launched a Kickstarter fund raiser for his new a victorian ghost story puppet film, “The Mill at Calder’s End”! I’m a huge fan of Kevin’s work and his first film, “The Narrative of Victor Karloch” and was thrilled to be able to participate on this new project. Along with creating artwork for a T Shirt pledge reward, I also provided some creature concept for the film! Now’s your chance to contribute to the next installment of his “Spirit Cabinet” series of puppet films too, check out the link to learn more about the project and consider pledging to bring his amazing story to life! PACIFIC RIM 2013!!

Happy New Year! Catching up on updating the website, but 2013 looks like it will be gearing up for a monstrous year~ first up will be the release of Guillermo Del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM film, which I had the pleasure of being part of Guillermo’s core concept team. Not much more I can say about the design work I did at the moment, but keep up to date with more film news as it’s released~ including the first official trailer over at Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures PACIFIC RIM website!

ParaNorman concept sketches!

Halloween’s right around the corner~ perfect time for some zombies! I’ve been asked about the “special thanks” I was given in the credits to Laika’s wonderfulPARANORMAN film~ back in 2008 I worked with director Chris Butler on some early character concept based off the initial script. Mostly various zombie puritans and their “alive” versions, especially the Judge Zombie~ but also taking a pass at Norman himself and some poster designs. In the end they went with a different direction for the final look of the film, but it was great fun getting to try my hand at some of the undead characters! You can see a handful of the early character concept I did for ParaNorman over at the conceptual section!

Guillermo del Toro’s PINOCCHIO!

Back home and catching up on the website updates after a stint of concept redesign onPINOCCHIO for Guillermo del Toro and Jim Henson Productions! As always it was a great experience to be part of a wonderful team and working with Guillermo again, not much more I can say at the moment but hope to have more updates soon!

PACIFIC RIM at SDCC!

While I’m staying at home, the massive San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) is underway this week with Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures revealing the first glimpses of Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming PACIFIC RIM film (which I had the pleasure of being part of the core concept team on)! The first teaser poster (by Hugo Martin) and a couple of the actual suit props are on display in the convention, but the big day of surprises will be on Saturday (July 14) during the PACIFIC RIM panel with Guillermo and some of the films stars~ Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman!

THE MARQUIS: INFERNO 2nd printing SELLS OUT!

Dark Horse Comics wonderful collected edition of THE MARQUIS: INFERNO has sold out of it’s second edition! We’re looking into options for a third printing and hope to have it back in print soon~ check back for updates!  Also I’ve had people noticing that the upcoming “MARQUIS and the MIDWIFE” graphic novel has been listed on a few places as coming out this month, unfortunately that’s a mistake (not sure how those dates were posted). I’m currently still working on the content and there’s been no solicitations for the new book yet, but you can see some behind the scenes progress to the series over at the Marquis blog!
